Our History

Off-road motoring for 4x4 enthusiasts

North Lakes 4×4 Club was the brainchild of a small band of local off-road enthusiasts, and the Club was born one winter’s evening in the early 90’s.

60 plus people attended the inaugural meeting and the Club name was settled as North Lakes 4×4 Club. A Committee was formed, memberships taken, and the Club was up and running.

A short time later we were accepted as a bona-fide Club under the auspices of the RAC Motor Sports Association (MSA), now Motor Sports UK (MSUK).

The club has always tried to cater for members and their families

An editor was appointed to produce a monthly Club magazine to keeps members informed of Club activities. Date of events, venues etc. are published each month.

Membership continued to grow. Land was obtained and events drew an ever-growing band of Competitors. Membership, over the years, has tended to run at around 100, with both single and family memberships. The club is on a sound financial footing and looks forward to continued growth in the future.

The club has always tried to cater for members and their families with road-going 4×4 vehicles, at the same time being innovative with the types of events we organise so that there is something for everyone and a chance for members to enjoy using their off-road vehicle.
